This online course provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of hand therapy. Participants will learn about the anatomy of the hand, common hand injuries and conditions, and the principles of hand rehabilitation. The course will also cover specific topics such as splinting, taping, and exercise. COURSE SUMMARY: The course begins with an overview of hand evaluation, including the four-zone approach to anatomy. Participants will then learn about common wrist injuries, such as carpal tunnel syndrome and sprains. The course will also cover Dupuytren's disease, contracture management, and ulnar sided wrist pain. The second half of the course will focus on common nerve injuries, the elbow, and the extensor and flexor tendons. Participants will learn about the anatomy and examination of the elbow, as well as fractures, soft tissue injuries, lateral epicondylitis, and tendon injuries. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid understanding of the principles of hand therapy and be able to apply them to a variety of clinical settings. LEARNING OUTCOMES: • Describe the anatomy of the hand and apply the four-zone approach • Identify and treat common wrist injuries and conditions • Manage Dupuytren's disease and contractures • Treat ulnar sided wrist pain • Identify and treat common nerve injuries • Describe the anatomy and examination of the elbow • Treat fractures, soft tissue injuries, lateral epicondylitis, and tendon injuries of the elbow.
