Coccyx pain is a common, frustrating, and debilitating condition. Very few healthcare providers are skilled in the evaluation and treatment of coccydynia. This course presents theory, evaluation and treatment. The clinician will appreciate the diagnostic process, common pathologies, mechanical pain, and become competent in manual interventions and education in self-management. Learning Objectives: You will be able to identify the structures of the coccyx and pelvic floor You will be able to describe the relevant neurology Appreciate the integrative inextricably linked structures relevant to coccydynia: including the coccyx, sacroiliac and lumbar spine. Explain the basic function of the coccyx and proximal joints during sitting, standing, and walking, including mobility. Understand the diagnostic process using imaging, injection, and manual evaluation Perform a review of the literature regarding coccyx pain and medical testing, medical treatments, brief overview of medication, and surgical techniques. Understand mobility impairment including positional and mobility dysfunction and pain.
